Open Studio Sale!

This Saturday, October 4th is Oktoberfest in downtown Newberry, SC and to celebrate we are having an open studio sale at The Constant Gatherer! Kirsten and I have invited our Greenville neighbors to join in! In addition to Kirsten's handpainted ornaments, tree-toppers and cards, my wreaths and mixed media, we will also feature the incredible ceramic work of Lily Pottery and the one-of-a-kind jewelry of Blue Moss by Michelle Taylor! We are so completely excited and honored to have them-so please come out and join us for a fun day on Main Street!

Morasha Jewelry

Falling in love with the vintage found object accessories by Morasha Jewelry. She does a tremendous job styling and photographing her work-which is half the web-selling artists dilemma, isn't it?!

Laura Normandin

The super-talented and endlessly creative, Laura Normandin of Wren Handmade is featured in a lovely spread in the new Sept/Oct. Selvedge Magazine. I love the sneaky peeks of her equally lovely home and those barrels of yummy thread!! Visit her blog and her Etsy shop.

Beautiful Birdcages

I admire these sweetly homespun birdcage assemblages by SuperFay on Etsy. Each cage... "is one in a series inspired by a character in Dickens' Bleak House. Miss Flite owns twenty-five birds, each with an allegorical name such as youth, beauty, ashes, despair, plunder, etc."

LeiLiLaLoo and Heart Handmade

Check out Heart Handmade's fantastic new series, Making It, beginning this week and described as, "a weekly feature that follows the progress of four talented designers as they deal with the ups and downs of the handmade world. From new product ideas to booking a first wholesale account, we'll be offering a fascinating glimpse into each of their worlds. The series will last for 12 weeks and then we'll get to follow a whole new set of designers." One of the first artists featured is a new favorite, Dana Komjaty, an Amsterdam based artist who creates incredible homespun artwork under the label LeiLiLaLoo. Also check out Dana's blog and ThaNk YoU, Marichelle for another helpful and exciting feature!

Farouche

I love the work of the California printmaker, Farouche. Their numerous lines of vintage inspired tags, cards, and prints would make great gifts-especially the lines that can be personalized! There are a few ladies in my family who methinks require the baking and craft tags!

Adam Smith

The mixed media art of Adam Smith makes me insanely jealous. He uses so many of my favorite materials-but in ways I cannot begin to comprehend. The tremendous amount of imagination behind his work always leaves me questioning and wanting more! I adore his one-of-a kind beeswax and metal brooches but also his line of affordable plastic pieces-I'm kicking myself for not buying his bangle last time I visited shopSCAD. His sculptures tend to incorporate mechanical workings which add to their strange and magical allure. Visit his website to experience much more. ShopSCAD carries quite a bit of his work-see here-and much more can be found in-store.
