Cuddlebugs Seeking Homes!

Here are some Pugs in search of permanent homes that are currently being fostered by Sepra or Southeast Pug Rescue and Adoption. They have a wonderful website where you can read all about the Pugs and their personalities, medical history, and eccentricities( a missing eye here, a diaper-wearer there-others are practically perfect!) There are also adoption and tips on raising Pugs. Many of these babies are puppy-mill rescues who are only now learning what real dog life should be like! These dogs are located from St. Louis to Georgia and Florida. I wish I could take them all!

The Francis Files

There is a section on The Humane Society's website called The Francis Files which features stories from those who feel an animal or animals have influenced their faith or whose faith has influenced their view of animals. There are only a few articles so far- but there is one that I thought to share with you titled, "Remembering Marie: Speaking about Pets with Passion and Faith" by Stephen H. Webb. The author's relationship with Marie reminded me of my Henry who passed away about four years ago. I think some people thought I had a pretty pathetic, irrational, and co-dependent relationship with that chubby old three-legged pug. I knew however that Henry was my constant companion through good times and bad. For seven years he was always simply content to be near me and that gave me comfort. Click here for the story. Maybe you have one of your own. I hope so.

Holy Moly!

I almost fell off my computer stool when I saw that Victoria at SFgirlbybay had mentioned me today! Her blog is one I've been reading for the longest time and I've been fantasizing about getting her attention the entire time! I just cannot believe it! I have been feeling so out of touch and on the verge of giving up lately for a steady paycheck-but thanks to my friends and those in blogland who have been so supportive of me lately- Artsy Mama, Poppytalk, Victoria-and today my friend, Liz Demos from @Home!-I can't help but take this good energy and persevere!!
(BTW- Jackson won First Prize in the First Grade division of the Science Fair-Way to Go, Action Jackson!)

Domino- the Final Frontier

When Amy Zurcher and I began shopSCAD we faced a lot of naysayers! Everything from the name to our display fixtures were poo-pooed - and loudly! Although, within a few months it was quite exciting and satisfying to see our efforts noticed in national publications. While I am no longer associated with the shop- I still feel as though I have bragging rights- and I want to especially applaud the work Amy has done to take shopSCAD to a new level! ShopSCAD, shopSCAD Atlanta, and shopSCADonline, have been mentioned in all the great magazines such as Vogue, Elle Decor, Country Home, Blueprint, Lucky, Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion, Cottage Living, and now........Domino! We both love the magazine and Amy couldn't have been more thrilled to meet style editor, Rita Konig! Rita has put together a lovely article that I think captures the old-world glamour and moodiness that we love most about Savannah. I've always thought Domino was the only equivalent we had in the States that compared to my British favorite Elle Decoration. Ok-I'm done buffing my trophy of No Shame. But stay tuned... ShopSCAD is about to undergo some big changes!

New York Magazine ran this great article on five monochromatic-dressing New Yorkers yesterday- visit here. The article was written by Joanna Goddard - an editor and the blogger behind A Cup of Jo. Its quite interesting how these things come about. I was immediately struck by Mrs. Sweetheart ensconced in green as I think that could one day very easily be me. Its a slippery slope. Not that she isn't fabulous- but I look terrible in green and I'm asking now for someone to kindly intervene.

One of my favorite Etsy shops is Gypsy and Twink. The artist has such a clever concept. I love the shapes and colors-and anyone who can collage that neatly is deeply mystifying to me! If I had a child I would love to group these (on a high shelf) in their room! I would love the "Little Yellow Tree with Bird" on my own desk!
