Halligan Norris

Meet jewelry artist Halligan Norris. I fell in love instantly with Halligan and the work of art strung around her neck when I met her a few years ago working behind the counter at @Home in Savannah. Word on the street is that she's now on her way to art stardom in Philadelphia with a crew of other amazingly crafty wonder-girls. Visit her super-sweet website here. You can also find her work at www.shopscadonline.com and Freehand.

A New Shop Cometh...

Come on in!
I'm almost a real shop! Jim and Trey of Palmer Signs & Graphics here in Newberry, SC just finished up my new window vinyl and I love it! (Can't say enough great things about these guys! They got my job perfectly done in one day and helped me move the heaviest table on the planet down Main st. to boot! Thank you!!) Notice I don't have many hours! It's kind of slow traffic-wise out this way and I still want to have time to paint and make things-I'm praying it works out! If not- I'm confident Jim and Trey can help me make an adjustment! This has finally put some fire under my feet! I''ll be opening on December 6th.

Heather Wynn

I'm always surprised that some company like Sundance or Anthropologie hasn't picked up on Heather Wynn yet. Hello??!! Oh well, anything she creates- shopSCAD wants! Her incredible work has been a beloved staple at shopSCAD since its doors first opened. You would not believe what a beautiful person she is, inside and out, unless you met her in person. Her sweet spirit and genuine creativity are evident in each of her original pieces. Visit her lovely website here: www.heatherwynn.com. Definitely visit her 'about' page to get to know Heather a little better. You'll fall to pieces over the work and the girl.

Mandinka Bags

These give new meaning to the term "man bag". These clever bags are made entirely from men's reclaimed tweed and wool sport-coats and jackets. I've seen a lot of folks try something like this- but the mom and daughter team at Mandinka Designs have got it down to a perfectly-crafted science. The lapels, buttons, and even the labels are artfully arranged to create these super handsome bags. Visit their Etsy shop here.
Housemartin

Housemartin is my absolute favorite blog and daily source of inspiration! I have to thank its creator, Pam for helping me with the ad I have placed on her beautiful site. I couldn't be more excited! It was kind of stressful for me to come up with a little ad that I thought could stand up to all the beauteous-ness (word?) that is on her site! So if you have found me through Housemartin-Welcome! And thank you for visiting! We must have a lot in common! I only wish Ink&Peat wasn't going to be so far away. I suppose a little trip is in order!

Bird and Yarn Wreaths

I'm so excited to show you the beginning of my holiday decorating greens! I've been making a terrific mess with all kinds of yarn and vintage Christmas birds and baubles. I've posted two on Etsy and will be uploading more and more as quickly as I can make them! They are made on styrofoam bases, wrapped with cotton batting, and then wrapped and wrapped with yarns of every kind. I've added some vintage tinsel garland to some, and all have vintage mercury glass ornaments and an old spun cotton bird. I have some coming with vintage bottle-brush trees, reindeer, and elves! Ornaments, too! I'll be selling these exclusively on Etsy- please visit here.

Colette Calascione
I am fascinated by the works of Colette Calascione. The paintings above appeared in a show in 2006 at The Nancy Hoffman Gallery. For more visit the artist's website here or her MySpace page here. Here's an excerpt from an article on Paintalicious.org:
"Both a strong flavor of Victorian-style naturalism and the theme of “female identity” unify the recent works of new-york based painter Colette Calascione. She paints surreal, exquisitely detailed classical style portraiture, ranging from rich and vibrant pin-up interpretations, to surreal reckonings inspired by books and images of vintage ephemera - particularly from the Victorian era. Likewise, her painting technique (in part) draws on the past, and the modus operandi of old master painters. It is from this careful execution of technique, Collette beguiles us with her images and her vision…"
