Bird with Freckles

I found some great vintage cotton spun birds in Tontitown, Arkansas over Thanksgiving break. My favorite bird takes center stage in a new wreath I listed today on Etsy. I made another large pomander too. I love the way the sides of this nest turned out. This bird got pretty intricate with her decorating. Why is each new one always the favorite?

I'm almost a real shop! Jim and Trey of Palmer Signs & Graphics here in Newberry, SC just finished up my new window vinyl and I love it! (Can't say enough great things about these guys! They got my job perfectly done in one day and helped me move the heaviest table on the planet down Main st. to boot! Thank you!!) Notice I don't have many hours! It's kind of slow traffic-wise out this way and I still want to have time to paint and make things-I'm praying it works out! If not- I'm confident Jim and Trey can help me make an adjustment! This has finally put some fire under my feet! I''ll be opening on December 6th.

House and Garden

This is my little farewell to House and Garden magazine. I gave up trying to get an acceptable scan of this cover from September 1946! I've been been hanging on to this issue as its cover sends me! I've photocopied it several times to use in various projects. The colors are all so relevant today. Are you able to read the colors? Sprout green, mustard, bracken green, kingfisher blue-I love them all! Thanks H&G! I was just beginning to get interested in the magazine and its website b/c of Grace at Design*Spongeso I was disappointed to hear about its December issue being the final one (although it sounds AMaZinG-features Amy Sedaris!!).

I'm so excited to show you the beginning of my holiday decorating greens! I've been making a terrific mess with all kinds of yarn and vintage Christmas birds and baubles. I've posted two on Etsy and will be uploading more and more as quickly as I can make them! They are made on styrofoam bases, wrapped with cotton batting, and then wrapped and wrapped with yarns of every kind. I've added some vintage tinsel garland to some, and all have vintage mercury glass ornaments and an old spun cotton bird. I have some coming with vintage bottle-brush trees, reindeer, and elves!
