This post is for my mother. We both covet the handmade ceramic wares of Connecticut artist, Frances Palmer. We fantasized about using one of her cake pedestals at my wedding, but decided to go "the more sensible route" and use one of the dozen we had already purchased for the one cake. I was so excited to find out that she has developed a commercial line called "Frances Palmer Pearl Collection" made from molds of her original pottery. The prices are great and they are user friendly, but I'm afraid much of her magic has been lost in the translation. There are a few sweet pieces however, and they'll have to do until I can finally afford an original Palmer! Visit her website here.

Since I currently have no time for making my own artwork to share with you, for the next few weeks I'll be sharing some from other folks! Here are some beautiful images from "Charmfoundry" (love the name!) the Etsy site for Bay Area artist, Kate Phillips. I'm especially fond of her "waxy drawings" which she offers as prints at very affordable prices.

Today I stumbled upon the magical French artist, Veronique LaFont. I am in love with her series of paintings about dolls. They remind me so much of Denise Falk's paintings (which I'm trying to find some images to show you). She has a great website that shows examples of all the different mediums she works with- from handmade dolls, small works on paper and mixed media to large abstract canvases. She has a blog too! Wish I could read French! Oh well, the images are lovely enough to speak for themselves.

Dorothy Draper Auction

Oh my goodness! I just found out about this auction of Dorothy Draper furniture via BeachBungalow8! If only I had a trailer, pockets of cash and didn't have a wedding in two weeks- well, I'd be there!! Most of these items are from rooms at the famous Greenbriar Hotel that Draper decorated in the late forties. My future-in-laws stayed there last summer and could not believe how perfectly fabulous it all was! I love all the styles and colors she mixes together. There seems to be something in this collection for everyone. The furniture ranges from Danish Modern to French Provencial, Shabby Chic to Chinese Antiques.
