The fabulous Molly Harrell visited my studio yesterday to shoot my ugly mug for Skirt! magazine. She is an amazing person and photographer now living in Charleston, but moving back to Columbia soon-yay! If you've read Columbia's Skirt! you have seen her work . She made the day so much fun and even helped me put together some promotional cards in Photoshop- I mean how sweet is that?? Visit her website www.mollyharrell.com. These original dolls by Le Train Fantome artist, Fanja Ralison are to me simply perfect visions of childhood wonder. Their crisp crayon colors and widely set eyes give them such a sweet innocence! I think of my mother reading Madeline to me at bedtime while it's still daylight outside and my hair is damp from bathwater. The artist sells out of her creations quickly, so if you're interested in being first in line- sign up for email updates on her mailing list.

Domestic Construction

The ingenious fabric room in the new Anthropologie Home catalog was the creation of the girls from Domestic-Construction,aka Trish Andersen and Maureen Walsh. These two amazing fiber artists became friends at Savannah College of Art and Design where I thought they were by far the most outstanding members of their class! They both moved on to NYC where Trish worked as display coordinator at Anthropologie on Fifth Avenue, and Maureen continued her clothing line, Uncle Bikes. After two years they decided to join forces and created Domestic Construction- a creative workshop that includes a line of magical deconstructed and repurposed clothing that is sold for now primarily at shopSCAD. They are planning a trunk show at shopSCAD-Savannah, April 29, 1-5 p.m. and shopSCAD-Atlanta May 2, 1-5 p.m. They are planning to have over 90 one-of-a kind dresses from their "Capsized" line inspired by shipwrecks and treasure chests, along with handmade housewares, cards, and accessories! I will be there with bells on! I am so excited for the chance to be in the midst of these two creative whirlwinds-and they really are only just getting started!

I discovered artist William Skrips this morning thanks to a link shared by Dolan Geiman via Poppytalk. whew! This is why I love the internet!! Thanks to Holly at Decor8, I spent waaay to much time this morning visiting the new online version of the Portland, Oregon shop, Flutter. It seems to be everything a gal could desire in a shop- vintage, vintage-inspired, color, birds, housewares, books, de-constructed and girly original clothing, and bath products! The website is pure delight and actually offers an amazing selection to purchase online. I adore the category headings(image above: books) Every nook and cranny of the site has been artfully considered. The shop even includes a studio for Julia Barbee of Frocky Jack Morgan-see website here- positively the stuff of dreams! It seems Portland is the place to be for all things bright and beautiful these days...I must get there....soon!!

Kinchi Kids Love

My husband would be relieved that I can't fit into these darling girl skirts from Kinchi-or I'd be stepping out all over town in these sweet kitty skirts! The designer is from the Netherlands and has a great eye for putting vintage patterns together in fresh ways! I love her tiny model(daughter?)-such rosy cheeks! I love her tag line too: "The Stuff to Buy when You're a Mum from the Seventies" She has much more available in her etsy shop including dresses, apron tops, and accessories.
